2017

The Hazlehead Golf Club's 88th AGM kicked off in the clubhouse at 14:00 Sunday 21st January 2018 with a talk by Alastiar Robertson and Keith Gerrard on Sport Aberdeen's 2018 plan for maintaining and bringing the Hazlehead courses up to an acceptable good playing condition. During the question and answer session, several scenarios were explored and one in particular that was voted on with a majority in favour was keeping the MacKenzie course closed throughout 2018 for comprehensive drainage and remedial work by the green-keepers, on the proviso that the course will be re-opened in very good playing condition (no guarantee accepted), and additionally that the three troublesome holes on the Pines course be completely sorted and ready in time for the new season and to remain playable throughout 2018. In the event that the MacKenzie course is closed, Sport Aberdeen confirmed that the Club would be given priority for Saturday morning tee times on the Pines to play medal competitions. The final decision on this rests with Sport Aberdeen and/or Aberdeen City Council and Hazlehead Golf Club are merely indicating their support if the decision is taken to close the MacKenzie course for the 2018 season. Sport Aberdeen would have to assess how this could be achieved and whether or not the necessary funding could be put in place.

The AGM finally commenced at 15:35; there were 63 attendees and eight apologies. John Angus was sworn in as the new Captain followed by the election of office bearers; the full list of committee members is available in the Captains and Committee page of this website.
